This pizza sauce produces excess tomato liquid, which would be great added to a braise.

Ingredients

28-oz. can whole peeled tomatoes, drained

anchovy fillets packed in oil, drained

garlic cloves

tablespoons olive oil

cup fresh basil leaves

Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper

Preparation

  1. Pulse tomatoes, anchovies, garlic, oil, and basil in a food processor or blender until mostly smooth (some texture is okay); season with salt and pepper.
