Three historic homes and two carriage houses make up the quiet, elegant compound of the Zero George. The high-ceilinged rooms, located in one of four buildings, are simply and beautifully outfitted. They range from a cozy queen in one of the veranda-lined houses to a top-floor suite in the main house with a private furnished porch and a glimpse of the harbor. In each room, find a Nespresso machine, Malin + Goetz products, and, instead of chocolates on your pillow, a packet of yogurt-covered pretzels. Why leave the hotel at all when you can take a cooking class, hang out at (free!) wine and cheese hour in the cozy bar, and relax in all of the sitting rooms, verandas, and fire-pit facing lawn chairs open for you?

PRO TIP: Stay in one night for dinner at the Zero Café + Bar; the tiny open kitchen is located right next to the check-in desk in the original 1804 carriage house to whet your appetite.

THE DETAILS: Rooms from $379.
