GO HERE: for lunch at London’s see-and-be-seafood restaurant. There’s something so indulgent about dressing up to eat sole meunière or fried haddock with mushy peas at the bar of this Mayfair classic. Also good: The celebrity spotting. (Yep, this is where those photos of Nigella Lawson and Charles Saatchi were taken.)

ORDER THE: oysters, potted shrimp, dressed crab, twice-baked cheddar soufflé, Cornish sole goujons (a.k.a. fish sticks) with tartar sauce, Dover sole meunière.

THE VIBE IS: posh and grown-up.

PRACTICAL STUFF: Sitting at the Champagne and oyster bar in the center of the room is more fun than a table (and provides a better vantage point for people-watching). Open Monday to Saturday, noon to 10:30 p.m.; Sunday, noon to 10 p.m.
