Opened in 2007 by power trio Nancy Silverton, Mario Batali, and Joe Bastianich, this still-hot spot is where to go to impress that first date (or business client). The vibe is upscale—dark wood, white tablecloths, and marble countertops—but that doesn’t mean you won’t find regulars: This place is something of a cult. For the full experience, sit at the mozzarella bar at the center of the room, order from a long menu of small dishes starring imported Italian cheeses (yes, that’s Silverton portioning out the mind-boggling burrata and bacon), tuck into one of their many expertly crafted pasta dishes, then sip from the expansive amaro list after dessert. And if you don’t want to commit, try the equally addictive Pizzeria Mozza next door, or the group’s “meat speakeasy,” Chi Spacca.   PRO TIP: If “cold spaghetti” sounds like something reserved for a late-night fridge raid, prepare to have your mind changed: the chitarra freddi with squid ink, crab, sea urchin, and jalapeño is a must.

THE DETAILS: Reservations open one month in advance. Make one.
