Leave it to André Balazs to design a hotel that is chic and fun, sexy and stylish. Whether it’s the morning yoga classes on the bayside dock or the steamy coed hammam that’s open until midnight on the weekends (when the ladies seem to be considerably fewer), the adorable juice bar serving chia pudding and café con leche, or the nonstop pool and Lido Restaurant & Bayside Grill scene, the Standard is meant for play. The impeccably designed Belle Isle location is a quick ride to—yet feels a world away from—South Beach, and a five-minute walk to Panther Coffee and the excellent True Loaf Bakery in Sunset Harbour. (Though given how gorgeous everyone here is, in that indie hottie way—we’re pretty sure they’re all from Venice Beach or NYC—you might not want to have too many egg and cheese brioches.) The smallish rooms in the former motel are simple but well-designed; the poolside rooms can be noisy any time of day or night. The downstairs rooms have private fenced terraces.

PRO TIP: Concierge Crispy Soloperto is possibly the best and friendliest in town. Become her friend.

THE DETAILS: Rooms from $251.
