In a town full of superlative po’boys, why choose Parkway? For its democratic not-just-tourists crowd, 100 years of history in Mid City, and incredible fried shrimp po’boy. (Well, that still could describe a number of local joints, but we’re sticking with our favorite.) Other standouts: fried oyster, roast beef, and the Thanksgiving leftovers po’boy, available only Wednesdays in November and December. Get it with a bottle of Barq’s root beer and sit on the patio.

PRO TIP: “Dressed” means with lettuce, tomato, pickles, and mayo. (You want yours dressed.)

THE DETAILS: Closed Tuesdays.
