(PLEASE NOTE: PARLOR COFFEE IS NOW CLOSED.)

In the back room of hip Williamsburg barbershop Persons of Interest exists a no-frills espresso bar that pays more exacting attention to two ounces of liquid than you ever will to your kid’s parent-teacher conferences. This is Parlor Coffee, and the two-location operation—the other being a roastery and tasting room at the Brooklyn Navy Yard—has become a symbol of how truly fantastic New York coffee can be.

PRO TIP: Buy some beans to go. If they’re good enough for the country’s best coffee shops, they’re good enough for your home kitchen—and the bag design helps them stay fresher for just a little bit longer.

THE DETAILS: The website will tell you what's roasting today. The espresso bar is open weekdays 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on the weekends. Go to a tasting at the roastery Sundays at noon.
