A bit like a bespoke Ace Hotel, the Wythe has all the amenities of a modern boutique hotel—the hip zip code, the concrete floors (wear socks!), the quirkily local minibar—but with friendlier service and character that comes from being an independent joint. Built into a turn-of-the-century factory on the ’burg’s north side, a neon hotel sign beckons from blocks away; once there, you’ll find locals and visitors alike browsing at the pop-up lobby boutique or vying for a gooey cheeseburger and a bottle of biodynamic wine from Reynard, the chicest of Andrew Tarlow’s many Brooklyn restaurants. Upstairs, there are comfortable low-key rooms with some of the city’s best skyline views and a rooftop terrace bar, The Ides, which draws a line on weekends.

PRO TIP: There’s no room service, but it’s easier for guests to get into the restaurant or rooftop bar without waiting.

THE DETAILS: Rooms from $250.
