It’s rare to use the phrase destination coffee shop, but this 11,000-square-foot space from longtime local brand La Colombe Torrefaction actually earns the title. You can, of course, get coffee at the wood-and-brick mammoth, located in the hip Fishtown neighborhood. But that’s just the beginning. There are also cocktails, baked goods, and a substantial menu; they bake a variety of breads in house and distill rum on site (make sure to take a peek at the distillery in the back). Don't skip the on-trend draft latte, which basically tastes like a less-sweet version of those bottled Frappuccinos.

PRO TIP: Ask a staffer for a tour of the upstairs coffee lab, where you'll see prototype bottles and A Beautiful Mind–style formulas scribbled on the glass wall overlooking the distillery.
