Some wine to go with that food, or some food for that wine?

GO HERE: if you like natural wines. This intimate and cozy black-and-blue-toned restaurant in Portland’s Northeast neighborhood is dedicated to organic, biodynamic, and additive-free wines and the minimalist veg-forward small plates that won’t upstage them.

ORDER THE: bread with anchovy aioli, butter, and pickles, and whatever wine is fresh and by-the-glass. Follow that up with some fried and cured little fishes and a bracing orange wine, which, if you’ve never tasted one before, you should just let your server choose.

THE VIBE IS: creaky dark wood floors, a deep marble bar, and incredibly flattering light bouncing off all the brass—basically a dream first-date spot.

GETTING IN: is meant for couples or small groups; you can’t camp out unless you’re ordering food. The reservation policy includes a credit card guarantee for parties of three or more.

YOU’LL WANT TO STEAL: the adorable brass lamps on the bar, which would warm up any desk or side table.
