Knowlton has said it before and I'll chime in and agree here: Philip Krajeck can make pasta. Exhibit A: delicate, perfectly formed pouches of sweet potato tortellini with ruby streak and apple balsamic. Textbook dough work that rivals any of the other Gods of Pasta, all for under $20 a plate available right in the heart of Music City. Anyone who says this town is just about country music and hot chicken needs to book a ticket to Nashville immediately. We've felt that way for awhile now.

The night was capped by a small cup of raw cashew soft serve from The Catbird Seat pastry chef Mayme Gretsch, who will open Utterly Soft Serve in Nashville sometime next year. She's just one of the talented young players that's poised to build upon this already awesome food scene. Do yourself a favor and keep and eye on her.

My one regret? Not going up to Nashville star and resident Connie Britton at the dinner and quoting Friday Night Lights ("Clear eyes, full hearts, can't lose!"). I'll be back in Nashville soon. Maybe next time I'll work up the courage—but at the very least I'm definitely asking for seconds.
