Heated Butter Knife Solves Britain's Breakfast Problems

Warburtons, a British bread company, has come up with a prototype of a butter knife that hopes to solve one of the many minor problems facing modern bread consumers: cold butter. The kind that won't spread nicely on a piece of toast. The kind that can ruin your morning.

The prototype is called "Toastie Knife" and it's basically a butter knife with some batteries in the handle that heat up the blade. The Daily Mail reports that Warburtons decided to make this knife after a survey showed that it was "the most desired breakfast innovation," beating out devices that could possibly prevent toast from burning, or stop tea from getting cold. Here's a video of this cutting-edge technology in action:

We should point out, by the way, that a much easier way to get spreadable butter is to not refrigerate it in the first place. Butter can, technically, go bad, but it takes weeks. So just leave it out on the counter--that's what those covered butter dishes are for.

While we're solving the problems of Britain's breakfasters, we could add that you can avoid burnt toast by paying attention to whether or not the toast is burning, and could stop your tea from getting cold by drinking it faster. If something comes up (maybe you're called to play in a pick-up cricket game, or find yourself drawn into a bar fight about the royal family), and your tea does end up cold, just nuke it, or make some new tea. You're welcome!
