FOMO-Inducing Photos from Feast Portland

Come September, one food-centric festival we always look forward to is the Pacific Northwest’s Feast Portland<—a weekend of incredible eats, drinks and a celebration of some of the region’s best craft brands. In partnership with Goose Island, guests were treated to the very best food and beer pairings, an exclusive Bon Appétit Hot 10 dinner with some of the country’s best chefs, and much, much more. Didn’t get to join us in person this year? Here’s your chance to live vicariously and indulge in some major food envy (we hope you’re hungry and thirsty).
1/15Now That's Hot: A Kick-Off Dinner to Remember
As one of the hottest events of the weekend, the annual Hot 10 Dinner featured select alumni from years past preparing a multi-course meal to kickoff the start of Feast Portland. Held at KitchenCru (a culinary incubator that supports industry entrepreneurs), Goose Island was paired with four of the night’s courses, tapping the diversity of their portfolio and different flavor profiles.
2/15Go Wild with Clam, Almond, and XO
Hot off the heels of their inclusion on the 2016 Hot 10 list, Chef Jeremiah Stone of Wildair in NYC was in the kitchen preparing appetizers for the awaiting crowd. His dish featured clams with almond milk and XO sauce, radishes and seaweed butter, and paired perfectly with Sofie, Goose Island’s sparkling Belgian Style Farmhouse Ale.
3/15Goose Island on the Beer, Knowlton on Jokes
It's all fun and games when you’re about to sit down to an epic food and beer pairing! Goose Island’s National Activation Manager Jesse Valenciana and Education Development Manager Christina Perozzi shared laughs with BA Deputy Editor Andrew Knowlton, as they announced the delectable lineup for the night’s tasting menu.
4/15Oh Hey, Kimchi and IPA
Guests learned how well a hoppy Goose Island IPA pairs with fermented food. Beverly Kim and John Clark of Chicago’s Parachute restaurant paired their bing bread and kimchi with the hops-forward brew for a delicious start to the night’s meal.
5/15We 'Squid' You Not, This Is Delicious
Seattle’s Alex Barkley from Manolin prepared a delicious course to pair with Sofie, a sparkling ale with light peppery notes. The chef plated up grilled squid with fried black rice, haricot vert, and ginger (could we please have this dish delivered back to us in NYC? ).
6/15This Is Literally Bananas (Like Thai Bananas)
You had us at Pavlova! The Parachute team whipped up quite the dessert—a meringue with crispy outer shell, filled with Thai bananas and black walnut praline—the perfect match for the crisp flavor and raspberry aroma of the Goose Island Lolita.
7/15Wheeling in a Glass Full Of Sparkling Delicious
Time for the Grand Tasting and guests were in luck at the BA Mercantile on Friday and Saturday. A vintage wheelbarrow held bottles of Goose Island’s Sofie. Guests enjoyed pours of the sparkling ale which paired beautifully with bites from local artisans, Olympia Provisions and Jacobsen Salt Co.
8/15A Green ‘Thumb's up’ to Outdoor Fun
In a moment of pure sunshine, a line started forming outside the BA Mercantile as the crowds awaited their first sips of Sofie—paired with perfect small bites from some of Portland’s best local vendors.
9/15It's Time for a Full-On Fiesta
On Friday guests attended Night Market, with its take on a playful Latin theme. Goose Island teamed up with Chef Paul Kahan of Dove’s Luncheonette in Chicago to offer Spanish bites paired with delicious beers in the perfect outdoor location at the foot of Portland’s iconic bridges.
10/15Yes, Please. We’ll Have Another
What pairs perfectly with the tasty cocktails made with Goose Island beers? Chef Paul’s incredible Pozole Rojo served up on Friday evening’s Night Market.
11/15Shaken or Stirred but Definitely With Salt
Goose Island served Spanish-inspired cocktails all made with Sofie. No matter which flavor profile you prefer, there was something for everyone—from the La Señorita Ahumada with mescal, the Sofie Picante with tequila, or even a Sofie Gin Spritzer.
12/15Can We Seriously Stay Here to Hang All Day?
There’s nothing better than enjoying time outside with friends at Feast Portland, but paired with awesome bites courtesy of Chef Paul Kahan and glasses of Sofie from the Goose Island booth? We’d call that a perfect day in our book!
13/15Brunch, Brunch, Baby! A Village of Breakfast-Inspired Eats
Everyone loves brunch, especially when it comes in village form. We’re totally into an early rise and shine if it comes with the promise of amazing food paired with Goose Island’s Sofie ale. Beer in the morning, for the win!
14/15We’re All About the Booth
It wasn’t just the beers that looked the part. The Sofie booth, made from repurposed hardwood floors from a historic Chicago home served as an impressive talking point for festival-goers as they lined up for a refreshing Sofie-Mosa.
15/15Rise and Shine With This Refreshing Cocktail
You say Mimosa; Jesse Valenciana says, Sofie-Mosas. Yes, a delicious spin on the bubbly cocktail, this time, made with fresh citrus and Sofie sparkling ale. Thank you, we’ll have another!
