The Official Foods of (Nearly) Every State

This week, the New York State Senate passed a bill that would make yogurt the official state snack. The pros and cons were discussed at length (it's a good source of protein, it's potentially offensive to those who are lactose intolerant), but even after bids for other snacks (raisins? pretzels? carrot cookies??), the Senate ultimately approved the popular dairy treat with a 52-8 vote. And while we guess it makes sense that yogurt was chosen—most of the country's supply is produced upstate—the seeming randomness of the bill got us thinking about other states. Do they have official snacks too? It turns out, only some do (seeming randomness confirmed), but our search led us to all the other arbitrary officially designated state food symbols. Unfortunately, not every state has one, but here's a look at our favorites.
