You may have heard the guy likes his bourbon

You know it’s a Sean Brock dinner when there’s a bottle of bourbon on the line (like, say, the one in this photo) that has nothing to do with the course being plated.

Last night, two of the country's most impressive young gun chefs got together and cooked a dinner. We've been to our fair share of event dinners, but this wasn't your standard course-by-course face-off. Instead, son of the south Sean Brock (Husk, McCrady's) and former Portlander Matt Lightner (Atera) claim they didn't have a final menu before they went to the Portland farmer's market yesterday. The two chefs collaborated on each course, bridging ingredients and elements from their respective restaurants.

The food was, as you might expect, creative, whimsical and delicious. But the real question: Was Sean Brock drinking bourbon? Yes, yes he was. As our Restaurant & Drinks Editor (and last night's host) Andrew Knowlton put it, "you know it's a Sean Brock dinner when there's bourbon on the line that has nothing to do with the course being plated."
