In the market for finger food? (Who isn't?) Need a party-friendly starter course? There's an app for that, and every Tuesday we'll bring you one from the BA recipe archive.
If you're a certain age, you probably remember those Saturday-morning ads between segments of Scooby Doo or Super Friends in which two hilariously oblivious stereotypes (bookish librarian, rebellious teen; obsessive archaeologist, sleepy mummy), one working on a chocolate bar, the other for some reason bearing a jar of peanut butter, collided into one another--with tasty results. Also, maybe they had babies afterward.
Nowadays, you're not going to get away with serving peanut-butter cups at a dinner party, but imagine this cheddar-and-Stilton terrine with layers of fruits and nuts as the grown-up version of that: Six of your favorite flavors, together at last.
Just don't serve it in your footie pajamas.
