Andy Ellison, an MRI technologist at Boston University Medical School, has been taking MRI scans of fruits and vegetables for a couple years, turning them into animated GIFs, and putting them on his website, Inside Insides. He told NPR that he takes these images as warm-up tests of the machines, before they're scheduled for clinical use, so there's no misuse of important medical equipment going on (if you were worried). They are all mesmerizing, but here are a few of our favorites from his collection:
