Massachusetts-based sculptor Judith Klausner, as a part of a series called From Scratch, has carved classical cameos into Oreos, embroidered mold spots onto actual pieces of toast, and made wallpaper out of condiments.
The series is meant to be a critique of food nostalgia:
** This same idea was picked up in that issue of Lapham's Quarterly we mentioned a few weeks back, in an essay called "Pastoral Romance". As great as farm-to-tabling can be (and as unspeakably gross as industrial food production can get), it's good to remember why we got ourselves here in the first place.
