3 New Hotels Perfect For A Personal Reset, From Hollywood to Hawaii
Released on 09/16/2020
Conde Nast Traveler's hot list is our definitive take
on the best hotel openings from around the world.
The types of properties that travelers book entire trips
around for their food,
design and location.
For the second installment of our Capital One video series,
we are highlighting three
of our favorite new hotels out West.
Whether one of the world's most glamorous cities,
the wide openness of the American West
or a taste of Island life in Hawaii.
Across the country,
one hotel shows it is possible
to marry sustainable mindedness
with urban sophistication.
For their West coast debut.
the Thought Leading brand brought their neutral toned,
biofilic interiors to West Hollywood.
The common spaces are beautiful and calming.
You would not even know
that almost everything is upcycled,
including the carpets which are made
from repurposed sea plastics.
Of all the white on white rooms,
ask for one in the skyline category
for knockout views of downtown Los Angeles.
If you don't splurge for a room with a view,
be sure to visit Harriet's Rooftop,
one of the hotels for pulaces to eat and drink,
where you can watch a rose colored LA sunset
with tequila cocktails in hand
and plates of fresh California cuisine.
Not far from Salt Lake City in Utah,
the Lodge at Blue Sky has exactly
what every traveler needs right now.
Wide open spaces,
comfortable isolation,
and the chance to properly reset.
All with the stunning views
of the Uinta mountains.
The retreat does a nice job
of blending into its environment.
Using local lime stones
and earthy tones throughout.
Though you may be tempted to sink
into the couches with some
of the hotel's signature new mountain cuisine influenced
by Navajo cooking and stare out
those floor to ceiling windows all day,
the real draw is on the other side of the glass.
Across the 3,500 acres that the resort anchors,
there is access to heli skiing in the winter
and fly fishing in the summer.
The horse programming is huge here,
and guests can take one of the horses
through the sage scented hills
or stick to the arena and learn the specifics
of the Spanish Vaquero riding style.
Last, we visited the Moana Lani
from Auberge resorts in Hawaii.
This iconic Big Island resort was given new life
when it reopened with a top
to toe renovation early this year,
Longtime guests will still be greeted
with the familiar,
friendly Aloha,
but we'll step into a newly designed open air lobby
that allows that sweet smelling ocean breeze
to drift through the property.
What we love about the retreat is its focus
on the natural environment.
Guests and learn about turtle conservation,
pick up a board and hit the waves
at the onsite surf shack,
or get to school on all aspects of Hawaiian culture.
Though, if you'd prefer to just lay by the pool all day,
that's perfectly encouraged too.
The rooms are smartly done
in a subtle neutral palette to really make those green
and blue views of the grounds and the Pacific pop.
The Island narrative carries throughout the hotel
to the decor of the bar
and the fresh fruits and seafood served throughout.
Here, you never have to leave the hotel
to feel completely immersed in all things, Hawaii.
The best hotels are the ones that give travelers
a total break from real life
through their food,
their design and their activities.
Checking into any of these three hotels
for even a short time can help you properly reset
in ways you won't even realize you needed to,
but trust us,
you'll be grateful for it.
