A Sonoma Style Holiday

I host all kinds of holiday celebrations
from small intimate dinners to large parties.
And I like to take a cue from the West Coast
and keep things relaxed and laid back.
Here's some ideas and tips
to make sure that entertaining during the holidays
is stress free for me and still enjoyable
for my guests.
Instead of traditional flower arrangements,
opt for potted succulents, jade plants
and bowls of fresh fruit.
This will set the stage for a laid back atmosphere.
Choose light healthy fare that's veggie forward.
Like this citrus salad with fried rosemary and olives.
Kale with pomegranate dressing and ricotta salata cheese,
and glazed carrots with citrus and pecans,
It's all about being fresh, seasonal and local.
Also let your guests serve themselves
for a comfortable, cool flow.
A raw bar is also an impressive and easy part
of any menu.
I always put red and white wines out for my guests.
It provides options and both go well
with my California inspired menu.
I enjoy Kenwood Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay.
The cabernet has ripe fruit aromas
of black current, cherry and plum,
making this full-bodied wine the perfect pairing
for the kale and carrots.
The chardonnay has vanilla and ginger notes
which balance with the bright aromas
of pear, apple and lime.
The crisp refreshing and well-rounded finish
perfectly compliment the raw bar and citrus salad.
These Sonoma inspired tips
will keep your holiday relaxed and stress free
while keeping everything delicious.
Cheers.
