I was born and raised in Oaxaca

where this little guy was also born and raised

which we're gonna use for a cocktail today.

So we're like twins.

We even have the same shade of brown,

you see that?

[gentle music]

Hi everyone, I am Bricia Lopez

and I am the co-owner of Guelaguetza Restaurant in LA.

Everyone in LA has this special relationship to tequila,

especially when you're Mexican-American.

I'm going to show you how to taste

and sip a great tequila like Lunazul.

Take a moment and we are going to enjoy.

You can always tell a great tequila brand by their blanco,

it is tequila in its purest expression.

So now I'm gonna make a cantarito cocktail,

recipe courtesy of Lynnette Marrero.

And I love her recipe just

because it includes a trifecta of citruses.

We have lime, we have orange,

and we have grapefruit, of course.

First you wanna rim your cantarito, just use the lime,

then you dip it in a little chile lime powder.

Next we have our shaker.

We're gonna fill it up with ice.

And with this

we're just gonna shake up the ingredients, okay?

This is just gonna get everything nice and chilled.

Two ounces of Lunazul tequila blanco,

limon you want maybe about half an ounce.

Don't sleep on fresh squeezed lime.

Let me tell you, it is worth it.

You want that fresh lime taste.

Let's squeeze in some fresh orange.

Now this orange is really gonna bring

that sweetness of the agave out of the cocktail.

Grapefruit's gonna bring that tartness inside.

We're gonna add a little bit of agave,

just to round out the sweetness.

Salt can do wonders for a cocktail, that's a little secret.

We're gonna close it up and we're gonna shake.

[ice clattering]

Now, pack this thing with ice.

We have our iced cantarito,

I wanna drink this whole thing in one gulp.

I'm not, but, you know.

We're gonna add a grapefruit soda.

Now to finish it off

we are going to just garnish it

with a little bit of this pink grapefruit.

I am going to cut my lime and put it right there.

You know what goes great with my cantarito?

My fingerling and raja tacos.

Tequila loves cheese, tequila loves citrus.

The potatoes have been roasted.

We have some rajas to add that hint of spice

but not overpower everything.

They've been fried.

They're toasty, they're crispy.

And you have this beautiful queso on top, Mexican crema,

and it's gonna cut through perfectly with my cantarito.

The cantarito cocktail is one of those cocktails

that you want at every asada.

You're grilling your meat, you're having your tacos,

a chef's kiss.

So now I'm just gonna go ahead and eat.

Mm, who created that recipe?

She's a genius.

This could not have been a better pairing.

The citrus, the spice, the salt,

the corn, the cheese,

the potatoes, the rajas, all comes together.

It is what you want to relax with.

And that is how you make a delicious cantarito

with award-winning Lunazul's tequila blanco.
