The Best Ice Cream Shop in America
Released on 12/02/2015
[Interviewer] So Hilary, tell me,
what do you get excited about?
Ice cream. (laughs)
[Interviewer] Of course.
So how do you even start?
[Hilary] If you look at ice cream menus,
you see that vanilla is most popular,
chocolate is second,
strawberry is third.
The prevalence of vanilla may actually be a manifestation
of what people expect to see on the menu.
Wouldn't you be outraged if you went to an ice cream shop
and they didn't have vanilla?
But if you look at what gets the highest ratings,
that is people posting reviews where they say,
I had the vanilla ice cream
and I give it a four out of five score,
chocolate is rated higher than vanilla,
and of the chocolate options,
dark chocolate is rated much higher.
But it's not enough just to get the ice cream,
you also have to figure out
what composition of toppings really goes together nicely.
[Interviewer] So which is the top topping?
[Hilary] One thing that's very clear is that whip cream
is both well liked and very common.
People really like adding cookies and brownies
to the ice cream.
They also really like raspberry sauce.
So we got all of this together.
I really want to find the best ice cream
and where I can get it.
So it means it has to have dark chocolate available,
cookies, brownies, is a good option,
whip cream definitely.
The place you should go is Ample Hills Creamery
which came back with super high ratings
for those particular things
and it's also pretty popular.
I love ice cream.
I would probably eat way too much of it.
