Kimball House
The restaurant that happens to be the best bar in town
Andrew Thomas Lee
It’s the prettiest, most romantic one, too. Sit at the bar in this beautiful 19th-century Decatur train depot, which takes its decor inspo from grand old hotel bars—all dark wainscoting and Victorian wallpaper—and let bartender Miles MacQuarrie make you something wonderful, like a classic absinthe-rinsed Sazerac to the original New Tokyo made with Scotch, brandy, yuzu, and ginger. Order some oysters and perhaps dip into the elaborate absinthe service and be transported.
PRO TIP: Raw bar happy hour (weekdays from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.) is the time to be here—and not just to guarantee a stool.
THE DETAILS: Sunday to Thursday, 5 p.m. to midnight; Friday and Saturday, 5 p.m. to 1 a.m.
