Imagine eight of your favorite specialty shops rolled into one gorgeous industrial-beachy space. That’s Gjusta, younger sibling to the nearby Gjelina. It is a juice bar; a coffee bar; a charcuterie counter; an appetizing shop outputting pickled herring, smoked oysters, and gravlax; a pizza place; a sandwich spot, using house-roasted meats; a bakery; and a sacred space for vegetable dishes so vibrant they could bring Alice Waters to tears (and a 2015 Hot 10 winner). Take a number before you even look at the cases and the menu board above: Your server will help you get items from any and all sections. The unfairly beautiful crowd is content to consume these impeccable offerings the only place they can—standing along the wall or perched at one of the outdoor tables. You won’t hesitate to join them.

PRO TIP: Go before 9 a.m., between 3 and 5 p.m., or after 7. What to order? Well, selections change daily, but our order always includes a baklava croissant, a bialy egg sandwich with harissa ketchup, a market salad, and a smørrebrød, with a yerba mate and fresh juice iced tea on the side. And then we get a loaf of porridge sourdough and some cookies to go. Here’s the Super Pro Tip: You can preorder all items—perfect for picking up on your way back to LAX.

THE DETAILS: Monday to Sunday, 7 a.m. to 9 p.m.
