GO HERE: for Chef Kris Yenbamroong's bold reinventions of his family's time-honored Thai flavors.

ORDER THE: party wings, to go with your first round of beers; pad kee mao, packed with tender chunks of short rib; the famous fried chicken sandwich; the perfectly tart papaya salad; and enough coconut rice to soak up all the sauce.

THE VIBE IS: like an LA art party where people (yes, even the celebrities at the next table) aren't too cool to eat, drink, and be rowdy. The restaurant is made up of three separate dining rooms, each exuberantly decorated with bright neon signage, plastic beaded curtains, and old-school Thai posters.

PRACTICAL STUFF: Open for lunch Tuesday—Thursday, 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and dinner Tuesday—Sunday, 5 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. Closed Mondays. (You can also visit their Silver Lake and Venice locations.)
