GO HERE: when you want to eat virtuously (hello, savory porridge)... but not that virtuously (the pastry options are plentiful). Nestled in the heart of charming and low-key Queen Village, Hungry Pigeon is the spot to grab coffee, pick up an almond croissant, or sit down to a breakfast salad with lentils, bacon, hash browns—and yes—some greens. The food is sourced locally, the space is bright, and there's homemade hot sauce on the table.

THE VIBE IS: effortless all-day café-meets-restaurant. It's trendy yet relaxed, the kind of place you’d like to visit several times a week if you lived nearby.

ORDER THE: the Philly institution: scrapple! Think pork plus cornmeal plus maple syrup. It’s sweet and savory, all at once.

PRACTICAL STUFF: Open 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. from Monday to Thursday, and until midnight on Friday. Open 9 a.m. to 12 a.m. on Saturday and 9 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Sunday. While you wait for a table during weekend brunch, walk across the street to Moon + Arrow to browse handmade and vintage jewelry, clothing, and more.
