You don’t stay here for a pillow menu or a giant bathtub. You definitely don’t stay here because it’s quiet. No, you stay here because it has everything great about Portland in one place: Cool vibes, great decor, awesome music, handmade hipster bikes, its own Stumptown Coffee Roasters, and some very excellent bars. (We could go on.) The downtown location will put you just a few blocks from Powell’s Books, Jackpot Records, Canoe housewares, and more. Or just hang on the mezzanine with a cortado and your laptop and get some work done (when not people-watching). The concierges know everything that’s going on in music and food, so put them to work to assemble the perfect stay.

PRO TIP: Hit Clyde Common for cheap bites and $6 cocktails during happy hour (3 p.m. to 6 p.m.), followed by more drinks at Pépé Le Moko in the basement. As for breakfast, we like tucking into Room 215.

THE DETAILS: Rooms from $145.
