GO HERE: to experience the brewery that launched a Toronto craft-beer revolution. Bellwoods and its ever-rotating selection of small-batch beers was a major inspiration for many of the latest entrants to the city’s scene, and it’s one of the few local breweries that has a cult following beyond the Six if a recent collaboration brew that sold out at Other Half brewery in Brooklyn is any indication.

ORDER THE: Monogamy IPA; Jelly King sour; Jutsu pale ale; Witchshark Imperial IPA; or whatever recent collaboration brew hasn’t sold out yet.

THE VIBE IS: session central. The small patio in front of the taproom is one of the most desirable day-drinking spots in the city, and if you can snag one of the picnic tables, it’s worth holding down the fort for as long as possible.

PRACTICAL STUFF: Open 5 p.m. to midnight Monday–Wednesday, 5 p.m. to 1 a.m. Thursday, 2 p.m. to 1 a.m. Friday and Saturday, and 2 p.m. to midnight on Sunday. Because it’s so hard to get a spot, the neighboring bottle shop (open 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. daily) is the next-best option, with bottles of beer to go, as well as souvenir posters and glassware.
