Hotel Emma
When you combine a historic space like the Pearl Brewery in San Antonio with designers extraordinaire Roman and Williams, the result is the most beautiful new hotel in the country. The Hotel Emma would be a great home base for exploring everything that’s going on in the San Antonio restaurant world, except for one thing: We never want to leave the premises. Our ideal day starts with room service breakfast: Could we have one chorizo Scotch egg with green-chili cornbread, please? Eventually, we'll pry ourselves out of the palatial room and head down to the all-day café, the Larder, for a duck-confit muffuleta to go. It's the ideal sandwich to eat along the San Antonio River Walk, two minutes from the hotel on foot. Is it 5 o'clock yet? Let's head to the Sternewirth, Hotel Emma's lobby bar, which is ideal for a predinner drink—no matter where you’re eating that night. One Pineapple Finesse cocktail (that's tequila and tepache, fermented pineapple liquor) and a bowl of chili-garlic peanuts later, we're ready for Supper. Literally, that's the name of the hotel's Texas-style bistro, which is centered around a huge wood-fired grill-slash-rotisserie that turns out everything from smoked crispy quail to pork "prime rib." We'll end the night right back in the room, where the mini bar is stocked with all the essentials (including fresh limes) for a D.I.Y. margarita nightcap.
PRO TIP: The hotel even has a culinary concierge to recommend restaurants in the city. (We're not the concierge, but we do love Hot Joy.) THE DETAILS: Supper serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
