Joseph is Bon Appétit and Epicurious' associate director of drinks & lifestyle, strategizing and executing beverage, travel, culture and lifestyle coverage for both brands. He also previously served as the research director for BA and Epi before leaving to take the helm as a senior editor at The Philadelphia Inquirer. Raised in Southern California and Chicago, Joseph has covered the intersections of food, wine, travel, and culture at multiple entities, including The Chicago Tribune, SevenFifty Daily, Thrillist, and Wine Enthusiast. He once served as vice-chair and a regional chair for the James Beard Awards Restaurant and Chefs committee, where he worked alongside other reporters, editors, and restaurant critics to identify and celebrate the industry’s talented leaders and innovators. A fellow of The Poynter Institute’s Leadership Academy and The National Critics Institute, Joseph has served as a guest panelist, lecturer, and speaker for the Symposium for Professional Wine Writers and The Chef’s Conference, among others. Holding several wine certifications, including an honorary knighthood(?!) with the Brotherhood of Port Winemakers, Joseph’s work has been published by Eater, Condé Nast Traveler, and others. He lives with his husband and their ornery orange cat, Bingley, in Brooklyn, aspiring to be a better plant dad and chaos gardener. Please, don’t call him Joe.
