Does your mirror have a face on it? Or what about your seat cushions—do they resemble more a stylish slab of terrazzo than, well, a seat cushion? In Elise McMahon’s world, you’ll find all that and a neon sign that looks like a giant piece of bacon. Welcome to her brain, where furniture and housewares aren’t sleek and standoffish but a little wacky, warm, and certainly inviting.
Through her furniture and design company LikemindedObjects, McMahon has been the design force behind some of our favorite Healthyish restaurants, including the newly redesigned Lil’ Deb’s Oasis in Hudson, New York. Instead of throwing these pillows on the floor, McMahon places them on the table bench to add a bit more coziness to the space as well as some visual appeal. “Each pillow has a completely unique color since they’re hand-dyed,” McMahon says. "I love that pop of color."

“I like inserting faces into my furniture, especially this mirror because the user becomes a part of the piece through the reflection,” McMahon says. You'll find a pair of them mounted upstairs in the new lounge of Lil' Deb's Oasis. And yes, that's McMahon's hand!

“This glossy fixture brings the light down to directly illuminate the table and emphasize an intimate dining space,” McMahon says. But it's not all about looks. She made this lamp to last, welding it from powder-coated steel so it's super durable.

Go ahead: Rub your hands all over these mugs! "They really make adults feel like kids," McMahon says of the sculptural feel. “The cups feel soft and feminine but hard and contemporary at the same time.”

These graphic, rope-woven placements pop out from the white table in the lounge. “I love how these mats make a flat plane feel sculptural," McMahon says. "It feels as if someone has prepared something specifically for whoever is sitting in front of it.”
