During the year we make our way to many food festivals around the country—but we hold a place near and dear to our heart for the windy city and the absolutely delicious weekend that is Chicago Gourmet. From agave margs, lobster rolls, tacos, and the cheesiest carbonara with a surprising twist—our time exploring the food-centric festival and the expert demonstrations from our very own BA editors was made even cooler thanks to expert products from Wolf Gourmet. 2/10Could This Dish Be Any Better? (No, It's Perfect!)
We thought being a carbonara fan was enough, but when you mix the creamy, cheesy, salty flavor and add it to pizza? You have a sure-fire winner. Guests at the BA Veranda: Grand Tasting got to sample this dream creation in real life—Pan Pizza Carbonara with Goat Cheese and Spinach. The patty is made with Wagyu beef, topped with Hook’s cheddar, pickled cucumbers, charred shishitos, and hard stemmed garlic aioli. Craving a handful of deliciousness? A crowd favorite during the weekend was the Dive Bar No More seminar hosted by our very own BA Deputy Editor Andrew Knowlton. Along with his wit and charm, guests also got to dive into bowls of al dente pasta and sip on refreshing cocktails. If that’s not a perfect Sunday on the East Lawn, we don’t know what is!
