We Brought Together the Best New Restaurants in America for the Party of the Year
In 2017 we saw prime rib resurface from our mother’s recipe cards, proclaimed a vegetarian sandwich the best thing we ate this year, and travelled across the country to find the chefs who are redefining modern American food.
So for one night in New York we brought together the drinks, bites, and vibes from 2017’s Hot 10 restaurants—and the talented chefs behind them to revel in it all. We devoured the most innovative and interesting dishes in the country, we danced our hearts out to old school jams, we maybe hit the bar one too many times. And in the morning we had a serious hankering for that sandwich from Turkey and the Wolf. Call us crazy, but we’ll call it the Best New Restaurants in America.

The Hot 10 chefs flew to New York to delight us with their insanely delicious dishes. Congrats to Turkey and the Wolf, Elske, Mister Jiu’s, Palizzi Social Club, Hart’s, Giant, Spring, Kemuri Tatsu-Ya, Nixta, Brewery Bhavana.
2/20Dirty Dogs
Chicago was doing some really good things in food all year long, so we crowned the windy city the Restaurant City of the Year, and had our friends at Fat Rice come out to celebrate—and they did not disappoint with these Chicago-style, flower-shaped hot dogs.
3/20Here’s That Sandwich
This is the collard green melt from our number one spot, Turkey and the Wolf. Yeah, the one that melted our editors’ hearts and landed them at the top of our 2017 Best New Restaurants list.
4/20Better Than Your Backyard Luau
Really good tiki vibes happening over here courtesy of these killer Patron cocktails. And do you see that apron? Big ups to Tilit for outfitting the chefs and staff this year, and making them look cooler than ever.
5/20The Crudo that Drove Us Crazy this Year
The Hart’s team likes it hot, so they threw some fermented chili oil on tuna crudo and we had to go back for thirds because it was THAT good. OK, maybe fourths.

Partygoers danced, drank, and dined alongside Bon Appétit editors and the chefs from the Best New Restaurants of 2017.

Elliot Moss from Buxton Hall—a 2016 Hot 10 alum—came by to make our favorite buttermilk fried chicken sandwiches and to partake in some fun. (He’s in the chicken suit, if you couldn’t tell.)

This is the husband and wife duo from Elske in Chicago, IL, Anna and David Posey. They served their duck liver tart with their black and white sesame tart, which is also couple goals.
9/20Everything’s BBQ in Texas
The crew over at Kemuri Tatsu-Ya from Austin, TX plated some gorgeous barbecue-smoked unagi with house tara and we had to stop and take this picture, grab one, and slink away.

White Stone Oysters was stationed amongst the crowd to serve one of our 2017 trends—oysters!—and to shuck us up.

“OK, I’m ready for my close up!” the perfectly plated dishes that our Best New Restaurant chefs served up had the spotlight all night.
12/20Senior Superlative: Chicest Chefs
Our badass friends from Bad Saint—a 2016 Best New Restaurant—came all the way up from Washington, DC this year to serve pork belly adobo and to be crowned chicest duo in the alumni circle.

Between sips of cocktails and beer, we had bottles on bottles of this superb Sherry on deck to keep us dancing the night away. Pours one out for Frankie Valli.

Here’s a shot of some pork belly with ginger, fennel and coriander that we dreamed up with Folgers® Simply Gourmet™. We’ll give you a minute while you pick your jaw up from off the floor.

After all of the pork belly and prime rib we consumed, this Chicory and Asian Pear Salad with Membrillo Vinaigrette was a vision in green.

No judgments If you told us you only wanted to eat this Prawn Toast from Mister Jiu’s in San Francisco, CA for the rest of your life. In fact, we would probably join.

Guests sipped on specialty cocktails comprised of Bar Hill Gin, lemon, and honey from this crazy comb to keep their buzz going all night.
