Inside the Ferran Adrià Dinner Hosted by Lela Rose
Lela Rose is our hostess hero. Not only did she invite one of our favorite chefs, ABC Kitchen's Dan Kluger, to cook for her friends upstate for our February issue (watch this space for the web version!), she got a world-beating roster into her Tribeca home on Friday to feed Ferran Adrià—even though she'd just broken her shoulder snowboarding. Luckily, Booker & Dax's Dave Arnold had set up a cocktail table, complete with liquid nitrogen tank, and co-sponsor Dom Pérignon was very generous with the vintage pours. Mario Batali passed around hors d'oeuvres and talked about his new show, which will combine food and music, while Thomas Keller, Dan Barber, Daniel Boulud, and Dominique Ansel tended to their teams in the open kitchen, where they were very much a part of the entertainment.
The event raised money for the Drawing Center, where Adrià's show, "Notes on Creativity," opened this weekend. We are not at liberty to say which guests retreated to the tequila room hidden in the basement, but let's just say it was a night to remember.
