How Newscasters Are Celebrating the End of the Election...With Alcohol

A "Mind Eraser" is a common cocktail refrain. Hmmm, we wonder why?

If you though this election was a mud-slinging barbed wire massage from the never-ending DMV line of hell—think of the poor newscasters! Pretty much all activity and news in the world at large was on hold while they covered every stale coffee and cinnamon Altoids-scented breath of this thing. Which means they're probably celebrating the end of it a lot harder than we are. As in: hard alcohol. We asked a few friends what they're drinking the second this sh*tshow is over:

Martha MacCallum, Co-anchor of FOX News Channel’s America’s Newsroom
“I plan to toast the end of the election with a Margarita on the rocks with salt. We have been very disciplined in order to keep our energy and focus up—so a celebration is definitely in order. However, the alarm clock will still go off at 4:30 a.m. on November 9, so it will be just one….”

Bill Hemmer, Co-anchor of FOX News Channel’s America’s Newsroom
“How about a long weekend in Monterey? A beautiful golf course on the Pacific that takes you far away from the past 15 months.”

"A Mind Eraser… Need I say more?!”

[A Mind Eraser is: vodka, kahlua, and tonic water or club soda. We highly recommend it.]

"Oh God… I want to do every hedonistic activity that is legal. I want to drink heavily, eat a ton, ask my husband to be very, very attentive to my every need and then sleep for a week.”

"The morning starts with as many donuts as I can cram in my face from Grindstone in Sag Harbor. THEN for lunch, numerous hot wings and cold draft beer from Blondies on the Upper West Side. AND then an entirely liquid dinner of many many Tito's Vodka and sodas. All on the same day. Then I sleep for a week straight.”

“I plan to wrap this election with a steak and a nice bottle of red wine. I also hope to spend the first free weekend in awhile taking my wife and two boys to a long Sunday brunch to just chill.”

“On Wednesday I'll allow myself to indulge in a glass of sparkling rosé and pasta Bolognese. And then on Thursday, I'll indulge in a low-carb-diet to get ready for my wedding which is now just four months away!!”

“I have cleared out my schedule after my live show at 9 a.m. for Wednesday, Nov 9th. I specifically wrote in my calendar—NO PLANS—so I can just do whatever I want that day. I think I'll just rest and have a quiet dinner with my husband. We couldn't celebrate my husband’s birthday on Nov. 7th because of my work around the election so, we will probably do a quiet dinner somewhere; but I think it will definitely include a glass of Chardonnay.”

"I fancy the idea of drinking these two cocktails: A "Cheatah Margarita" a recipe I came up with (shot of jalapeño-infused tequila, juice of half a lime, Fresca, ice) in honor of Donald Trump who has repeated claimed recently that the election is rigged. And the "Mind Eraser" (classic recipe) now that Hillary Clinton confidante, Huma Abedin, says the possibility that her emails are on her estranged husbands computer is "news to her" (according to a source, talking with CNN).

“Absolutely anything that can’t be super-sized. I’ve been gone so often, so anything that is home-cooked sounds delicious right now and washing it down with something red would make it that much better.”

Still deciding on what you'll be drinking when this election is over? We recommend the Swing State:
