My name is Amanda Shapiro.
I'm the editor of Healthyish at Bon Appetit.
And this is my dog, Fio.
Fio and I met the day after a huge snow storm
in New York city about five years ago.
I'd been waiting to adopt a dog for a long time
and got the call that there was one ready to be fostered.
It became clear probably after the first day, honestly,
that we were never going to bring him back.
It was love at first sight.
You know, I love a lot of things about Fio.
I would say his personality is just
the thing that I love the most
because he makes me laugh every day,
whether he's in his grumpy old man phase
or running around like a puppy again,
or just being really lazy on the bed in the morning,
he's just got a whole range of personalities
and you just never really know when one is gonna pop up.
My work life is definitely sometimes stressful.
It's a huge mix of things.
It feels a little bit like running your own company,
which I love.
I'm surrounded by health and wellness content all the time.
The recipes that we run on the site are
always that good balance of healthy, but delicious.
That's where the ish comes in.
And so that's really how I live my life too.
I always cook a lot here.
I make sure that I'm cooking with
as fresh ingredients as I can
and just making food that makes me feel good
as well as tastes good.
I feed Fio Caesar because it's made with ingredients
that I can actually recognize
and food that I would feed myself.
The number one ingredient is US chicken.
And I really pay a lot of attention to the chicken
I buy at the store so I care a lot
about the chicken that I give to my dog.
Fio loves all of Caesar's flavors, the chicken,
the steak, the turkey dinner.
He'll eat every single one that I buy.
I got Fio when I was in my mid twenties.
And I first I thought Fio was making me
grow up too fast because I had
this dog to take care of.
It felt like this overwhelming responsibility,
but Fio actually helped me become,
I think, a more responsible and empathetic
and caring person.
I always wanted a dog.
I just never really knew how much he would,
he would change my life.
