Play With Your Food
Good job guys, y'all get pancakes at the end.
My name is Paulina Lopez, co-host of Super Mamás podcast,
co-owner of Guelaguetza Restaurant,
co-owner of I love Micheladas as well,
I'm also a mom, a wife and everything in between.
I have three beautiful daughters:
a nine year old, her name is Krista
a six year old, her name is Savina
I call her my baby, but she's three years old already.
we try to find activities that we can all do together
we try to squeeze in as much family time as we can.
Every Sunday is pancake day at home
and the girls are always looking forward.
I don't know who's more excited, the girls, or my husband
I try to make it creative in a way that's more play-based,
adding a little bit color on the food,
The kids are like, Oh my God, this time it's a rainbow
making it fun for them so that they are interested.
It doesn't always look perfect, but we're all here.
Really looks like a piece of art.
to learn about my kids' personalities,
and you can see that at a breakfast plate.
With Christa we are going to be doing
shapes of letters and numbers.
We're gonna mix the butter together,
then we're going to put the butter in squeeze bottles.
She's gonna draw it onto the griddle and then flip it.
After that, she's going to be decorating them with fruits
With Savina, we're going to be doing the animal pancakes
and for that, we make different shapes,
we put them together and we make the faces with fruits.
With Sixta, we're going to be doing
some amazing rainbow pancakes,
we're going to be using some gel color.
The best tip that I can give is go drop by drop,
until you find that perfect color that you like.
She's going to stack them up easy, colorful, fun.
It's our way of just closing off the week
I see you sneaky chocolate in your mouth.
Pancakes have been a challenge for me for a while.
It's super easy to use, super fast.
I let it sit two minutes until it's ready.
And then when it's ready, then I start cooking them.
Once you start seeing the little bubbles pop,
We let them be for probably like another 30 seconds
They are super fluffy, they're really easy to flip
they don't get stuck, we're all happy,
If mom's happy, everyone's happy.
If you look at things from a child's perspective,
all they want to do is have fun
that's what it's about, right?
It's about spending time as a family.
It's about being grateful. It's about being together.
Doesn't matter how it looks as long as it tastes good
It has allowed my daughters to get more creative.
It has allowed them to be more curious.
They get more excited, every week, when we do this.
I'm really, really excited to see the progress
that we've all made through this pancake journey.
I want to create these memories for when they are older,
they can pass them on to their children.
