What's the best type of juicer:

centrifugal or masticating?

The Breville Juice Fountain is a centrifugal juicer.

It uses a high-speed spinning blade

to shred fruits and veggies,

then flings juice through a mesh filter.

The Nama J3 is masticating juicer,

also known as a cold press juicer.

It uses an auger that looks like a screw,

which slowly squeezes the produce to extract juice.

Let's make green juice to see how they compare.

The Juice Fountain was more hands-on.

I had to feed each ingredient through the chute,

and when the celery hit the blades, juice went everywhere.

The apple was pulverized in one push.

It's fast, but it whips in air,

creating foam and leaving water pulp behind.

The Nama J3 took over seven minutes for the same recipe,

but it was mostly hands-off.

The hopper is smaller, so larger veggies need chopping,

but a whole apple still fits.

The pulp comes out super dry.

It's nice that most Breville parts are dishwasher-safe,

while the Nama is hand wash only.

Yes, it's more tedious to clean, but the Nama is smaller,

so it takes up less space on your countertop.

It also made thicker juice

that had a richer, more vegetable-forward flavor.

What's the best juicer? Good things come for those who wait.

My vote is for the masticating slow juicer. Cheers.
