Don’t even try to get a room here during South by Southwest or Austin City Limits: All of your favorite bands are staying here—and not just because it’s a short walk to the Continental Club. They can’t resist owner Liz Lambert’s mix of down-home comfort and Texas chic, with rooms that combine brightly colored tile with natural wood finishes—not to mention the best minibar in town (everything’s local). The bungalows are great, but we prefer to sleep in the old house. And if you can’t get a room, on a slow night you might be able to talk your way into the bar for some celeb-spotting.

PRO TIP: Weekends book early, so try to get a room as soon as you have your dates. Splurge on Suite 5, tucked behind the garden, with its screen porch and upright piano.

THE DETAILS: Rooms from $295.
