What We Learned at the Park City Grub Crawl
We can officially confirm that high altitude does not hinder our ability to eat everything in sight. The second Bon Appétit Grub Crawl of 2014 brought us to Park City, where we made our way through seven restaurants in four hours. S’mores, scallops, and sake were just a few of the offerings of the eventful evening. Couldn’t join us this weekend? Here are some of the memorable moments we saw while eating (and gasping) 7,000 feet above sea level.

The event started off at Zoom, where Salt Lake City band Changing Lanes played a couple of Outkast covers, which turns out pairs excellently with freshly shucked Shigoku oysters.

Reef’s specialty is forthright Mediterranean flavors, and it showed. The lobster and lemon couscous had us dreaming of a Greek island vacation.

TableONE chef Will Cisa’s mania for seasonality did not disappoint. His poached Gulf shrimp, with zucchini blossoms, radishes, and Castelvetrano olives was a standout dish.

You know you're in the mountains when elk is more common than beef. Chimayo approaches the local game with Southwestern influences and combines it with some not-so-local halibut.

Seven restaurants in, and people were still raring to go. The food adventure officially wrapped up at Wahso, featuring Seven Spice Scallops with bacon dashi, soba, and leeks.

Our food adventure unofficially continued with an after-party at Silver, Park City’s celebrated cocktail bar and restaurant. Immediately after walking in, we were handed charcuterie plates and shots of whiskey as Hall and Oates blasted from the speakers.

DJ Dolph’s last set of the night was so good, he had partiers dancing (and falling) on their bar stools. A woman was overheard worrying about her subsequent hangover; her friend consoled her by claiming, "A hangover is your body's way of telling you've done a good job. So let's do a great job tonight." Let's just say... we did a more-than-great job that night.
