Everything ‘Schitt’s Creek’ Star Dan Levy Would Put in His IRL Wellness Shop
The fictional world of Schitt’s Creek is filled with places like The Blouse Barn (a clothing store that sells exactly what you’d imagine), Café Tropical (a hole-in-the-wall diner that serves occasionally warm smoothies), and a Rose Apothecary, a pristine wellness shop. One of these things is not like the others, and the person to blame is Dan Levy, creator, executive producer, and star of the Canadian TV series.
On Schitt’s Creek, the wealthy Rose family (think: Kardashian level) loses their entire fortune because of their shady, tax-evading business manager, and they’re forced to move to the town they bought as a joke. At first, they reject everything about the small, quaint place, but over the course of the show’s five seasons, they grow to love the people there. Johnny (played by Eugene Levy, Dan’s real-life father) buys the run-down motel they’re staying in, and David opens Rose Apothecary, first starting with a collection of local body products and eventually expanding to wine, cheese, and home décor.
“What would someone who thinks they have perfect taste do for a living if they were given the opportunity?” Levy explained when we spoke over lunch at Del Frisco's Grille. “For me, part of the joy of writing the show is picking all the different things that he sells there.”
So what would Levy’s wellness apothecary look like if it belonged to him and not David Rose? First of all, it would be called All Good Things and stock “a nice combination of Oprah and Gwyneth Paltrow.” The vibe would be colorful, warm, and inviting so people feel welcome when they walk in, with a gray-green aesthetic and freshly baked cookies (gluten-free ones, we assume).

I find Amazon is a great litmus test for what I should invest in and what I shouldn’t because the people who shop there are a perfect cross-section of all different types of incomes. If everyone agrees, it must mean that it’s doing something really great, especially when it’s $20.

The P50 is also a highly reviewed product that a friend of mine had been using and recommended to me. It’s the high-end part of my high-low skin routine, and a little goes a long way. I like a saucy mix in my truffle salt: black and white. I know that truffle products are polarizing, but I’m a popcorn guy, and to me a pinch of truffle salt in some popcorn really elevates it to the next level. It’s great in omelets and does a number on anything you prepare with it, so it’s become a staple in my kitchen.

This book has really interesting, insightful ideas on running a business and leading your day-to-day life. My mom gave it to me at Christmas as a reference, because I get really anxious when I’m working, and when you’re in charge of a large group of people there’s a lot of responsibility that falls on your shoulders.
