In the market for finger food? (Who isn't?) Need a party-friendly starter course? There's an app for that, and every Tuesday we'll bring you one from the BA recipe archive.
Green beans are crunchy enough on their own to be addictive (we've been known to munch an entire farmers' market haul of the veggies like a bag of potato chips), but why stop there? For an extra-crunchy, salty, veggie-based snack, fry them tempura-style. The batter is way too easy--flour, a can of club soda, and salt--so it only takes about 10 minutes for those green stalks to go from tote bag to serving platter, all hot and steamy.
Bonus: That tempura batter? It will work with anything from sweet potatoes to broccoli florets to eggplant. You're welcome.
