Mexico City's Best Spot for Churros is Open 24/7

Oh my god, there's so much sugar on this table
and I could not possibly be happier.
I am at Churreria El Moro,
the birthplace of the Mexican churro.
Churros are essentially the Mexican donut,
it's fried dough tossed in sugar and canela,
which is Mexican cinnamon.
The story goes that a Spaniard moved to Mexico City
in the early '30s, was completely surprised to find out
that there were no churros in the city.
He did what anybody would do, and he started his own
little churro pushcart, right here in this very spot.
It did so well that two years later,
he opened his own churreria, El Moro.
And these amazing things are called consuelos
which actually means comfort in Spanish,
and what could possibly be more comforting
than a churro ice cream sandwich?
So churros, normally in Spain and in Mexico,
are fried choux pastries, which is
water, butter, flour and a lot of eggs.
Their dough doesn't have any eggs
or any leaveners of any kind,
theirs are only flour, water and salt
and that's how they keep this amazingly crisp texture.
I need a little bit more comfort.
(happy mumbling)
This is so amazing.
If you come to Mexico City, you have to come here
and get your sugar fix.
I'm probably getting chocolate all over myself.
