I used to be the type of person who vacationed for vacation's sake. (That type of person is called a "freelancer.") Now, older, wiser, and more fully employed, I treat my vacations with a little more care. I think less about reaching peak indulgence, or racing around to every landmark and photo opp in a foreign city, and more about giving my body the stuff it's not getting on the daily. Like nature and silence and enough time to actually finish the book I've been reading for months. And, sure, drinks with tiny beach umbrellas too. That's the spirit behind this travel guide.
