Ingredients: 1 1/4 cups plus 3 tablespoons (or more) heavy whipping cream; 1/2 cup (packed) golden brown sugar; 1/2 cup dark corn syrup; 1/4 cup (1/2 stick) unsalted butter; 2 cups unbleached all purpose flour; 1½ teaspoons baking powder; ¾ cup (1½ sticks) unsalted butter, room temperature; ⅔ tablespoons (packed) dark brown sugar; 2 large eggs; 1 cup mashed very ripe bananas (2 to 3); 1 tablespoon dark rum; 1½ teaspoons vanilla extract; Sliced bananas (optional)

This is essentially the cake version of banana pudding mashed up with sticky toffee pudding, which is actually cake. All of which is to say, this is a very good thing.
