Back in the day, I never ordered these things,
and not just because they're scary.
I didn't know how to eat them.
Which in Louisiana is basically considered a crime.
Yeah, but now I'm a pro.
And today from American Express Studios,
I'm gonna show you a few of the tastiest,
most challenging local dishes around the country.
And we're starting out west with the California artichoke.
It looks like a pine cone, but it tastes way better.
Start by pulling off each petal
and scraping the soft parts with your teeth.
And once those are gone, all you have is the heart,
which you can extract with a spoon.
Next up, let's head to New Orleans for some crawfish.
Remember this mantra, head, tail, twist,
pull.
One more time, head, tail, twist,
and pull.
They're intimidating but easy.
[Man] We finish out east with New England Steamers.
Just start by peeling the skin away
and drag it through the broth to get rid of the sand.
You're gonna dunk that in butter, right?
[Man] Obviously, that's steamer 101.
And with that dunk, we're done.
[Man] See how the Premier Rewards Gold Card can help you
on the journey ahead.
