Bryan Furman is a South Carolina–born pitmaster and barbecue expert known for his whole-hog cooking, heritage-breed pork, and wood-fired approach to barbecue. A former welder, he founded B’s Cracklin’ BBQ in Georgia and was named Bon Appétit’s “Georgia’s New King of Barbecue” in 2018. In 2019, he became the first pitmaster ever selected as a Food & Wine Best New Chef. Today, he operates Bryan Furman BBQ and continues to champion traditional Southern barbecue while preserving and celebrating the legacy of Black pitmasters.
