There's always plenty to argue about on Thanksgiving—turkey-carving techniques, football stats, your Uncle Larry's latest global conspiracy theory—but when it's time to let bygones be bygones, you can count on one dessert to bring everyone together: pie. People of all persuasions can rally behind pie; it's the Great Uniter. Not convinced? Well, get this: even celebrities love pie. It's like Us Weekly says: They're Just Like Us! Apple, pecan, pumpkin: we found the personal pie preferences of more than a dozen celebrities. If anyone at your Thanksgiving table—we're looking at you, Uncle Larry—has the audacity to claim that pies are less than universally beloved, you've got the ammunition to prove them wrong.

Unsurprisingly, apple pie's adherents are people who aim to project a squeaky-clean, all-American vibe: the Obamas (who refer to their pastry chef Bill Yosses as "The Crust Master") and Taylor Swift. Justin Bieber is also rumored to adore all things apple.** Should any of them ever appear on your doorstep—hey, it could happen—you'd do well to whip them up a classic double-crust apple pie or a cinnamon crumble apple pie.

Billy Crystal and Jon Hamm are alleged fans of this pie, which boasts a degree of fluffiness once thought to be unattainable by mankind. You can marvel at its beauty by making the classic version or by trying the delicious salty bourbon caramel variant.

It can probably be said that no one, rich or poor, old or young, would turn down a slice of pumpkin pie. Gwyneth Paltrow and Keri Russell are especially fond of it, as gossip has it—Russell's fave is the Pumpkin Whoopie Pie. If you're looking to please traditionalists this Thanksgiving, take the conventional tack with Grandma's Pumpkin Pie. Those looking to defy standards can turn heads with the Amaretto-Almond Streusel Pumpkin Pie or the Brûléed Bourbon-Maple Pumpkin Pie.

No less an authority than the New York Post avows that Jon Stewart and John Lithgow have been spotted enjoying slices of sour cherry pie. (It's highly probable that non-Johns enjoy it, too.) The Classic Sour Cherry Pie with Lattice Crust is popularly considered a summertime dessert, but who cares? It's Thanksgiving; all bets are off. For a different spin, try the Sour-Cherry Streusel Pie.

Enough sugar; the savory pie deserves its, uh, slice of the pie, too. Beloved by Oprah, cooked by Blake Lively, and purportedly a favorite of Kiera Knightley, the Chicken Pot Pie delights seemingly anyone with taste buds. Vegetarian? Enjoy kale and butternut squash in our winter veggie version.

Country star Josh Kelley has confessed a predilection for pecan pie; Dancing with the Stars's Karina Smirnoff likes it, too, as does comedienne Ellie Kemper. We've found that it's best, as with many things in life, when you add bourbon.

There are some among us, perhaps the wisest, who refuse to play favorites; they love just about anything with a crust. Elijah Wood is one such generalist; he recently revealed that he's even thinking about opening a pie shop in Austin. Singer Jennifer Hudson is another pie devotee. And let's give some credit to the original pie celebrity, Mark Twain, who claimed he'd sit down with a piece whenever he was stuck in his writing. (It's said that Huckleberry Finn takes his name from huckleberry pie.)
