What to Cook Now That Whole Foods Groceries Are Cheaper
Yes, we were excited too when we heard the news that e-commerce giant Amazon had purchased Whole Foods for $13.7 billion this summer. But we’re even more excited now that the first signs of change are upon us. On Monday, prices on foods like salmon, almond butter, and kale at Whole Foods dropped significantly. New signs around stores boast “New Lower Price” and are tagged with both Whole Foods’ and Amazon’s logos.
According to this press release from the two companies, their goal is “to make healthy and organic food affordable for everyone. Everybody should be able to eat Whole Foods Market quality—we will lower prices without compromising Whole Foods Market’s long-held commitment to the highest standards.”
Future innovations will also include making Amazon Prime the Whole Foods loyalty program, providing subscribers with special savings and other perks. Whole Foods’ proprietary brands like 365 Everyday Value and Whole Catch will soon be available online as well.
