Celery Root Slaw

Ingredients

/3 cup mayonnaise

/3 cup crème fraîche or sour cream

tablespoons fresh lemon juice

tablespoons Dijon mustard

tablespoons finely grated peeled fresh horseradish or prepared horseradish from jar

/4 teaspoon Piment d'Espelette

cups matchstick-size strips peeled trimmed celery root (celeriac; from about 2 medium)

large red onion, halved, thinly sliced

/4 cup chopped fresh chives

Preparation

  1. Whisk first 6 ingredients in large bowl to blend. Add celery root, onion, and chives and toss to coat. Season to taste with salt and pepper. DO AHEAD Can be made 1 day ahead. Cover and chill.
